Scientific evidence shows that 1.2 million people around the globe die by drowning annually. That’s about two people per minute. More than 50% of these people are children.

There was an average of 3,536 drowning deaths in the United States between 2013 and 2016. This is about 9 to 10 fatal drownings per day. About 76% of annual drowning deaths in the U.S involve children 5 years old and younger.
More than 55% of drowning victims who are treated in EDs (emergency departments) require hospitalization. Some of these non-fatal drowning injuries cause brain damage that causes various long-term disabilities including permanent loss of basic functioning, memory problems and learning disabilities.

Gate and Door Alarms
These are battery powered alarms that are typically installed on exterior doors and gates leading to the swimming pool. In the case that someone opens the gate without pressing the bypass button, the gate alarm will sound within 7 seconds and stay on until an adult disables it. The alarm also prevents adults from leaving the gate open. If the gate is left open for more than 10 seconds, the alarm rings again.
